Lend A Hand

Make Time to Fuel Good

You most likely have the best of intentions and would love nothing more than to be able to contribute in some way to your local community. Naturally, you might be wondering where you could possibly find the time to squeeze in an extra activity into your already overstretched schedule.

There are 8,760 hours in a year. That's a lot of time to do all the things you need and like to do. With some creative advance planning, you'll be able to fit more Fueling Good work into your busy schedule than you imagine.

Take Time to Fuel Good

It is possible to build a strategy to improve the way we deal with time in our daily lives. By improving our time-management skills we can carve out that little bit of extra time that can make all the difference.

  • Many companies give employees time to volunteer during work hours. Ask about your company's policies.
  • Create a list of volunteer opportunities that don't require a long term commitment. When you have some free time, you can spontaneously participate.
  • Make a particular volunteer opportunity a weekly, monthly or annual tradition.
  • Combine family time with Fueling Good. It's a wonderful way to spend quality time with the family.
  • Consider a volunteer vacation. Take a few days off work, and use some of that time to lend a hand to those in need.
  • Join a social group that focuses on volunteering. You can meet new people, network and Fuel Good all at the same time.
  • Seize the moment. Use unexpected free time such as snow days as an opportunity to Fuel Good.
  • When you spring-clean, donate clothing and household items to charity.
  • Volunteer on holidays when there is no school or work.
  • Take turns with friends, family and neighbors to watch each other's kids. Use the time to create change in your community.
